Background!
After asking for advice from the Finance Committee and various staff members and reviewing the various activities taking place on the campus, and since we are literally watching money pour down into the sewer, work will begin on replacing not one but two water lines starting on Tuesday, May 31. What this means is that there will be no water service for our campus, save for a designated line to the rectory from Tuesday through Friday.
In other words.....no one can use the restrooms, drinking fountains, sinks anywhere on the campus from Tuesday through Friday, except at the rectory.
We will still have daily Mass at the regular times, and adoration on Tuesday. The training video will still be filmed on June 2 and 3. All other groups who may have a meeting or a practice scheduled for this week have been contacted and they are aware of the situation. If a funeral were to occur, I would inquire about transferring it to another parish church.
Now here’s where your prayers are needed. Whether you want to call it a leap of faith or a high stakes gamble, for this project to be completed in its entirety in 4 days is dependent on two factors: no rain and no unforeseen problems when digging the trench, laying the new pipelines and replacing the necessary valves. There are three additional reasons for your prayers: There is a wedding scheduled for Saturday, June 4, we have our weekend Mass schedule and VBS begins on Monday, June 6.
In advance I thank you for your prayers, your understanding and your adaptability. - Fr. Barthel
