    Our Mission
    Develop a deeper understanding of the principles of Catholic social teaching and how we, as Catholics, should respond to the issues in our community.

    Who We Are
    We are a group of parishioners who, with the help of the Peace and Justice Commission of the Archdiocese, want to engage our parish community in learning and discussing how we can put our faith into action to create a better world.

    Our Focus
    Racial Harmony
    The initial focus of our ministry has been racism and social justice.  We have hosted presentations highlighting issues such as inequities in housing, access to banking, and racial barriers to accumulating generational wealth.

    Immigration
    As Pope Francis reminds us, a change of attitude towards migrants and refugees is needed, moving away from attitudes of defensiveness and fear, indifference and marginalization toward attitudes based on a culture of encounter to build a more just and fraternal world.  Welcoming the Stranger was our first program on immigration.  We also hosted a showing of the movie Cabrini and collected donations for Welcome STL, an organization that helps immigrants and refugees in St. Louis.  We will continue this focus in 2025.

    Principles of Catholic Social Teaching

    We will continue to provide programs and information about how Catholic Social Teaching can guide our response to the issues that confront our communities today.

    Prayer for Peace and Justice
    Grant us, Lord, God, a vision of your world as your love would have it.
    A world where the weak are protected, and none go hungry or poor;
    A world where the riches of creation are shared, and everyone can enjoy them;
    A world where different races and cultures live in harmony and mutual respect;
    A world where peace is built with justice, and justice is guided by love.
    Give us the inspiration and courage to build it, through Jesus Christ. our Lord.
    Amen
